Monday 5th July Jimmy Cliff C2 offer a warm & welcome return to this reggae icon.  Jimmy's crystal clear voice & powerfully haunting lyrics have made him one of reggae music's lasting & respected heroes.  Known for his easy, pop-friendly reggae style, as well as harder-edged tunes with social & political lyrics ­ sung with an earnest voice - the young man who wanted to simply 'express himself through music' has gone on to influence an eclectic mix of artists from Elvis Costello & The Clash to Sting & Lauryn Hill.  Possibly best known for his role in 'The Harder They Come', which starred Jimmy Cliff & featured several of his songs, it was also his 1969 hit 'Wonderful World, Beautiful People' & his help with recording Bob Marley's first single 'Judge Not'  which promised his international success.  Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, Jimmy Cliff was among the first artists to bring reggae to a worldwide audience & has been awarded the 'Order of Merit', Jamaica's third highest honor, which is generally reserved for governors & prime ministers.  Don't miss this show! + Siobhan Parr 19 year old singer-songwriter with heartfelt folk/soul tinged songs + Aces Crew DJ's.  8pm.  £16.50.
