Thursday 1st May Misty In Roots After two decades, this caribbean band from Southall have come to epitomise an era when punk formed an alliance with reggae.  This pure roots reggae collective share their spiritual lyricism - songs dealing with racial injustice & the ills of capitalism - with

horns, guitars, gospel-inflected keyboards, sweet harmonies & melodic vocals sliding over the bounce of a dancehall/reggae musical backbone. 

Welcome to a powerful, righteous, uplifting reggae - this band have a very real relevance in the new millennium !  Survey a lifelong commitment to

Sunday 4th May Brighton Ska Festival 3 featuring Laurel Aitken (the god father of ska), The Hotknives, Too Hot,  2 Tonic, Smoke Like A Fish + King Size.  5pm - 2am.  £14 in advance.  £17 on the door.

Monday 5th May Bank Holiday 'World Music' Alldayer.  The beat of modern samba from Sambaloco:  Patricia Marx live PA (vocalist with 4 Hero), Bruno E & Adrian Harley (BBC 1xtra) plus African drummers, flamenco dancing, capoeira, steel drummers.  Spanish & Caribbean food, kids play area (bouncy castle, ball pit, face painting), jugglers, circus skills & much more.  2pm ­ 8pm.  donations welcome.

Thursday 15th May Soul II Soul.  In the late 80's/early 90's, Soul II Soul created an environment which appealed across the board, with their Balearic beats, a new sound called Acid House & their contribution to the warehouse scene.  The Soul II Soul sound was original, new, fresh, and infectious, but above all it was a UK thing.  It was homegrown.  Their tracks 'Keep On Moving' &  'Back To Life' enjoyed huge chart success & Soul II Soul quickly became household names.  They even had a slogan ­ "a happy face, a thumpin' bass, for a lovin' race."  Their sound remains as interesting & fresh today as it did more than a decade ago + guests.  8pm.  £12.

Monday 26th May Bank Holiday 'Reggae' Alldayer.  Soundclash special: guests to be announced plus live acts, DJs, drummers, bouncy castle, ball pit, stalls & much more.  2pm ­ 10pm.  £donations welcome.

Wednesday 28th May  Roy Ayers.   Roy Ayers threads the line between jazz, funk, disco & rare groove with wonderful, unforgettable classics like we Live in

Brooklyn Baby, Searching, Running Away & Everybody Loves The Sunshine.  Roy's signature blend of smooth vibes, musical concept, mother-wit lyrics,

saxophones, keyboards & worldly percussion are a reflection of his eclectic instincts.  From the time he formed his group Ubiquity in 1970 to today, Roy Ayers has developed a style known as Smooth Jazz and pacified millions of music lovers. His music has been sampled by dozens of groups including Big Daddy Kane, Mary J. Blige & Puff Daddy.  Rescheduled date.  Original tickets remain valid.

Thursday 29th May Sugar Minott.  Veteran singer, songwriter, musician & producer Lincoln 'Sugar' Minott, released Live Loving in 1978, which was one of the first ­ if not the very first ­ dancehall albums to hit a turntable.  Sugar Minott, a proud, strong & conscientious product of the Western Kingston ghetto, set up his own, self-produced labels, Black Roots & Youth Promotion. Throughout the early 80s, Minott produced other pioneering dancehall artists like Junior Reid & Tenor Saw, while releasing his own, cutting-edge tracks ­ he has been a driving force in pioneering the creation of reggae music.   Sugar's prolific vocals are seductively smooth & insightful & on stage he is one of the most dynamic performers you'll ever see + Aces Crew.  9pm.  £10 in adv/£12.50 on door.
