Blessings- Vyris Edghill (SISTA Women In Reggae)

Blessings is a haunting roots vocal produced by London's Sista Women In Reggae team and, tragically, the last record made by Vyris Edghill before her untimely death in July 2002.

Underpinning the spare, bass heavy production is Jackie Mittoo's great, and infrequently used, Jericho Rock rhythm for Studio One. Understated back up vocals from the Women In Reggae crew, an echoed keyboard riff like a shower of rain, the intensity and restraint of Vyris Edgehill's own vocal delivery all build the intensity and heavy roots pressure. A veritable quiet storm and an absolute must for fans of UK roots music.

On the other side Focus is another bonus for roots fans, a spirited, militant sing-jay style attack on the same rhythm from Trilla Jenna in the style of such reality DJs as Sizzla and Warrior King.

In the words of SISTA Women In Reggae:

"BLESSINGS" was the last song written and recorded by VYRIS who passed away in July of this year 2002. We tribute Vyris with this release and celebrate her life. We remember Vyris as originally lead singer with AKABU, originally African Women, backing vocals for many great singers such as Luciano and Bim Sherman, and since March 2000 lead singer with SISTA.
FOCUS written and sung by Trilla Jenna has the constant strong and positive message that Trilla Jenna always offers. She has a vibrant DJ style that will catch you every time. TRILLA JENNA is lead DJ style that will catch you every time. TRILLA JENNA is lead DJ Vocals with SISTA and also touring in her own right."
