AUGUST SITE OF THE MONTH:

rmr

rmr stands for rec.music.reggae. Simple name, simple and effective idea.

This is going to be the shortest site review ever because this site, and the idea behind it, is simplicity itself. It's a reggae bulletin board or newsgroup but on a very large scale. That's all it is. It really does have an enormous number of hits. On the particular day that we visited there had been hits well into three figures on subjects as diverse as Dennis Brown's funeral, the death of Jah Lloyd, someone asking what the dance steps are to rocksteady, stuff about Black Uhuru, Marcus Garvey's funeral, and 27 people who had written in to say what their favourite reggae album was.

You have something to say and you post it up and people post up their responses. You post your response to other people's items. You can browse back through their archive for the last three months, using a search facility for a particular topic that interests you. The site is part of a larger site called RemarQ that provides exchange of ideas and information for every community of interests imaginable, of which reggae is just one.

That's it. No more and no less. The only complicated factor is that I personally found it difficult to access the site through a link and had to type in the address for myself. This is the link I was given http://remarq.com and this is the address at the top of the page when I finally got there .http://www.remarq.com/threads.asp?g=rec%2Emusic%2Ereggae&nav=LAST and this is the home page for the RemarQ community as a whole http://www.remarq.com/home.asp

Best of luck.
